Decorating Your Wedding Cake

In preparation for decorating your wedding cake, find and buy the basic supplies you will need. The list of supplies depends on what you want to do with the cake. Just make sure that you have an adequate amount of essentials to finish your activity. This way you do not run out of supplies in the middle of the project.

There are different styles of wedding cakes couples can choose from. To make the selection easy, research the style of wedding cake appropriate for the event. The design and size of the cake all depend on the number of guests at the wedding. It is also important to know what style and theme the couple wants it to be. Wedding cakes require a lot of work too, but you will be happy to see the result of a well-planned wedding cake.

You may use basic boxed cake mixes or one of the many recipes available when you bake the cake. This also depends on the couple’s preference. Use proper baking utensils and follow cooking procedures on the recipe. Once the cake is baked, use a cake leveler to even the surface for stacked construction.

Once the cake has totally cooled and you have evened the surface, frost the cake and cover it with fondant. Frosting helps in making it taste better, but the fondant will make it look smooth and silky. A small thin layer of frosting under the fondant may be added for the best of both worlds.

Now that your cake is done and has it has been frosted, it is ready for frosting or fondant decorations. Designs such as flowers and lace are common decorations you can put on the wedding cake. If you have doubts on the decorations you are about to put on the cake, try it on a board before you decorate the cake. You can add any floral decorations or plastic embellishments to finish your cake. It would be better to add floral or plastic decorations at the last minute because they can fall off.
