Arranging your wedding is an exciting time of life and every bride wants things to be perfect on her special day. There are many bridal accessories that symbolise something special such as good luck or happiness that the bride often wants to have included in her outfit. And, of course, there are many other things that no bride wants to be without. However, much depends on the style of wedding – and, of course, the budget.
For instance, most brides go for the traditional white dress and veil; however there are so many different designs and styles in each that there is plenty to choose from to suit your wedding theme. If you are having a beach wedding, for example, you will probably choose a relaxed and casual style for the wedding outfits. Your veil will need to be light with a strong grip to keep it on your head in the wind that is usually found at beaches. You may even choose a hat for your headpiece. The bridal gown would likewise need to be of a light and more casual style than the outfit chosen for a more formal wedding.
The jewellery is another important bridal accessory and the bride may decide to wear a piece offered from her mother or grandmother’s collection for the something old tradition. However, something old can also be an antique veil, a wedding handkerchief or some other adornment; it does not have to be jewellery. It is important to choose jewellery to suit the bridal gown and headpiece or veil. If there are seed pearls on either, then they should also be included in the jewellery.
Bridal garters are another traditional accessory for the bride to wear at her wedding. These are usually embellished with decorations of lace, flowers and ribbons. Traditionally, the groom must remove the garter from the wedding reception proceedings. You may want to ask some older members of the family what their wedding traditions were and include them in your own wedding.
Not all bridal shops have garters, but they can easily be found online, so if you want to include this tradition as part of your ceremony then you only need to look on the Internet for a pretty wedding garter. Or perhaps your grandmother has one tucked away in her box of memorabilia and you can use it for the something borrowed tradition. One other tradition is to wear something blue and this colour is often included in the garter.
