The History and Importance of Makeup

Calvin Klein once said that the key to looking natural is makeup. As bizarre as it may sound, the famous fashion designer means something more than what is easily perceived from that line. The cosmetic industry has vigorously promoted the importance of cosmetics in having fairer and healthy-looking skin. Known to many, makeup or cosmetics are just used for fashionable purposes and nothing more. For them, a cosmetic sale is only a fad that superficial women go crazy about. However, since many cosmetics manufacturer these days are rich in vitamins and skin-enhancing elements, makeup has served as a hybrid for skin beautification that works for skin health purposes and coverage.
Originally used to enhance a woman’s face through colors, makeup was first used in Egypt, according to historical records. By that time, there was no standard procedure in applying maquillage on the face. The idea is to just beautify the face with colors on the eye lids, cheeks and lips. Now, makeup is considered as an art which a person who is adept in its application is called a makeup artist. With the drastic turn in evolution that it has been through, makeup is now considered as essential items especially to professional and modernized women who want or need to look their best everyday. Its application does not rely on the rendering of colors alone, but it takes a more artistic twist since it is now perceived that there is a right color for what dress a woman will be wearing, the right shade of blush for every skin tone and the right volume of makeup for a particular time of the day.
Going back to Calvin Klein’s idea of a natural look through makeup, makeup is perceived these days as a popular way to enhance one’s natural look. Just like a having a bad hair day, there are times when your face will not cooperate to what you want to look like. On occasions where a woman has a party or special meeting to attend yet a zit has just broke out from the surface of the skin, the eyes are so puffy for staying up all night last night, or your skin is unfortunately dry due to lack of sleep, a woman can use the concealing and beautifying powers of makeup to hide imperfections and look exceptionally natural but definitely levels prettier than her makeup-less look.
Makeup has been so helpful and effective in giving a woman a new improved look. With a stroke of mascara, her lashes will look so much longer. With a thin layer of foundation and crme, her skin tone will automatically be fairer. With a stroke of blush on the cheeks, achieving a more flushed and feminine look is easy. Basically, a woman can look the best version of her face when makeup is perfectly applied. On a more profound note, women are generally thankful for the existence of makeup not just to change the way they look, but to simply enhance it.
Because of women’s love for beauty, many makeup manufacturers regale with so much delight that their products can serve not just in boosting beauty, but also by giving confidence, something that is considered to be priceless.
