Coordinating Outfits With Wedding Venues

When you have a wedding theme, you’ll want everything to tie in with it – not least the outfits and wedding venues.

When you’re having a themed wedding, you’re going to want every little detail of the wedding to complement it – but two of the most important decisions will be regarding the wedding outfits and the wedding venues. When looking at wedding venues with your chosen theme in mind, it’s usually not too hard to find what you’re looking for, be it an elegant stately home for a traditional white wedding or funky modern hotel for a more sophisticated affair.
Once you have the venue decided, it’s time to start choosing the outfits: you’ll want ones that go with both the chosen theme, and the venue. Here’s how:

The Bride

The bride’s wedding dress is one of the most important fixtures of the wedding, and will be the thing everybody talks about before, during and after. Finding the right dress – one that suits both the bride, and complements the wedding theme – is, therefore, crucial. When selecting the dress (as well as the accompanying jewellery and accessories) work with your theme in mind. A traditional white wedding often means a more conservative white dress, whilst something more quirky calls for a unique style. Incorporate your wedding’s colour theme into your outfit. Vintage dresses are very on-trend at the moment, but many brides find they’ll need their one-off finds adjusted specially to make them their most flattering. Don’t sacrifice a flattering dress for the sake of theme.

The Groom

It’s easy for the groom to feel forgotten, but his outfit is also important. Often it will be chosen to complement the wedding dress once that has been chosen, incorporating elements of the style or pattern to create a sense of unity. If your wedding venues are going to be adorned with a particular flower, then stick one in the groom’s button hole for a picture perfect finish.

The Wedding Party

Dressing the wedding party is a great opportunity to reinforce your theme with fun outfits that emphasises elements of the wedding dress, such as repeated patterns and colours. If there are children in your wedding party than even better, as young flower girls and ring bearers can wear more costume-like clothing than adults can hope to get away with, ensuring that they look very in place once in the wedding venues.

The Guests

Make sure your guests are made aware of the theme beforehand by including it in your invitation – if you’d like guests to dress to match, explicitly invite them too! At the end of the day, nothing really reinforces a theme like wedding venues filled with guests all dressed in twenties flapper gear or done up in lilac.
