Concerns for Renting Wedding Venues

Many people decide to rent out wedding venues for their receptions. The venues are typically banquet halls or other public locations. These are preferred because these spaces are meant to accommodate large amounts of people and amenities for parties. Plus, they are designed for weddings and other occasions in mind, so they’re usually fairly nice and elegant locations. However, you still have to be careful about which venue you choose. The hall should be able to meet your standards and your needs. Therefore, it’s to your advantage to come up with a list of questions regarding what the venue may have to offer you.

Space

Consider your guest list and if the amount of people who have RSVP-ed will fit in the venue you’re researching. It’s not just the number of guests you should be concerned with. Is there room for the tables, seats, and food? Is there a stage for the featured entertainment? Will there be space for all the activities you have in mind? You may need a spacious dance floor for the bride and groom’s first dance. Don’t forget about the bouquet toss and other activities. Consider those who are handicapped and need special amenities and accommodations. Also, is there a room for the bride and groom to change into afterwards? You should keep in mind that a space may be too large; the venue may appear sparse and you may be paying too much.

Location

Like real estate, an important deciding factor, in choosing a venue, is a location. Choose a spot that is fairly close to the church or another place you’ll hold the ceremony. That way, you and your guests will not have to travel far to reach there. The location shouldn’t be too far from most guests’ home.

Availability

Another key factor is the availability of the wedding venues. Obviously, if a hall is not available, you’ll have to go with another choice. Make sure you do your research months in advance. Inquire about any repairs or renovation to be made and if they’ll be complete by your wedding date. Decide on a suitable time so you won’t book the same day as another wedding or event. If another event is occurring, chances are you’ll have to rush in and out and you won’t be able to enjoy the festivities. Also, this doesn’t give much cleaning time, so you can’t expect your venue to look spic and span when you arrive.
