A Good Bridal Shower Invitation and How to Write it

A bridal shower is a fun way for the bride’s friends and family to celebrate, eat, play games and have a bash prior to the wedding. Everybody showers the bride with gifts and blessings for her to start her own household. It is the bridesmaid who is usually the hostess but it can be done by any close relative, preferably not immediate family like the mother, father or siblings as it would seem like they are asking for gifts for their daughter. The host/hostess is responsible for the organization of the party, which includes invitations, menu, theme, games etc. In this article I would be covering one of the most important aspect which is the invitation. As it is the first impression to the guests as to how the party is going to be, it is important that the invitation should be unique.

Things to be included in the invitation:
Bride’s full name
Date
Time
Location
RSVP name and number
Theme of the shower
Date of the wedding
The time the bride is expected to arrive , if it’s a surprise party.

Sample for Bridal shower invitation wording: The words have to be chosen very carefully. I have categorized the wordings into two, namely, traditional or fun and casual . For example,
Traditional: Please join us for a Bridal shower in honor of our bride to be christine Anderson, Saturday, november 18 2011 at 4:00 pm Hosted by monica, venue€”hilton, marine drive, mumbai. RSVP Monica€”9464932110.

Fun and Casual: Let’s help Miss. Cristine anderson to become Mrs. Christine Varghese through a bridal shower, Saturday, november 18 2011 at 4:00 pm Hosted by monica ,venue€”hilton, marine drive, mumbai.RSVP Monica€”9464932110.
If you are a good poet you can even write a poem for the bride.

Things to be kept in mind while designing the invitation:

Guest List: The bride could be asked for the guest list but if the bridal shower is going to be a surprise for her then may be the mother can be approached. Make sure that you are not inviting anyone who is not invited to the wedding.

Design: The design should be rustic and elegant. Some examples that I can give you are, you could have the picture of the couple on the invitation, or a silhouetted image of a bride featuring her gown and veil, a cartoon of a couple, floral prints, an image of a big cake, or may be just the name of the bride in big and bold writing on the card and the rest of the details in small print.

The Wordings: The words used on the card should be apt for the bride. Like I mentioned before it could be very formal or fun and casual. A lot depends on the theme as well. Special attention to be given to the spellings of the guests and the invitation wordings. The Bridal shower invitation wording should provide all the essential details for the guests.

The Colour: The colour should be such that image used and the wordings are clearly visible. The bride can be asked for her favourite colour which can be used. If a particular colour is the theme of the party then that should also be considered.

The Paper Quality: A good quality paper should be used. You can have hand€”made paper, thick paper, glossy or matte finish or you can get more creative and try new stuff.

The Envelope: Many a times it happens that the envelope size is not as per the invitation card.It should be such that the card slides in and out easily. Again the paper quality should be good.

Time factor: The invitations should be printed well before time so that you can have a preview and also it can reach the guests who stay far away well in advance for them to plan their travel.

If all these points are kept in mind the designing, printing and sending the bridal shower invitations will be a smooth affair.Basically the first look of the invitation should be stylish with sophisticated flair.
