There are many great flowers to choose from for your wedding day! These are my five favorite flowers for any wedding. There are many important factors to consider when thinking about the exact type of flower you want for your wedding. You need to consider whether your wedding is indoors or outdoors, what colors your party is wearing, and the availability of the flowers listed below. All of the options I have listed below are readily available flowers at almost any flower shop where you are getting married. Of course, the price is going to vary based on your exact flower and which shop you get it from, but overall you will be very happy with any of the wonderful choices below.
1. The Rose
A perennial flower known for their beauty and fragrance. They are a hardy flower and should last throughout your wedding day. Known to Asia, Europe and North America they are a common flower seen at many weddings. They come in a variety of colors and are always a favorite! Depending on the color of the rose there are many different meanings. For a wedding we almost always see red or pink roses as a symbol of love. But, as a FYI, yellow roses usually mean friendship and purple roses also mean love.
2. The Tulip
The Tulip is from the bulbous plant and is native to Europe, North Africa and Asia. They come in a variety of colors, but tend to be more fragile than other flowers. There are 109 species of different tulips, so you have a wonderful array of different colors to choose from. In my opinion, white and yellow tulips are absolutely georgous for your wedding day.
3. Calla Lily
Easy to grow, these unique flowers come in a variety of colors and are native to South Africa. They average between 1-3 feet high when grown and although called lilies, they are not really in the lily family. They are a hardy flower and should hold up the day of the wedding, living up to their name Calla (Greek for beautiful). They will absolutely make your wedding day floral arrangement a success.
4. Lily of the Valley
This fun flower is native to the Northern Hemisphere of Asia and Europe. It is a perennial flower and although it looks delicate, it quite hardy and can survive where other flowers cannot. It has tiny white bell shaped flowers that grow on the top of a thin stem. Once the flower dies, it is replaced by shiny red berries when grown in the wild. The Lily of the valley isn’t as traditional as the rose or tulip but it is definitely a lot of fun!
5. Hydrangeas
These are beautiful flowers with large blooms and deep colors. They are a more delicate flower and are only around certain seasons. Hydrangeas are one of my favorites as well, they look absolutely beautiful in a wedding!
